  • MUMBAI CENTRAL RAILWAY CHILDLINE Project

Pursuant to the direction of the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, the Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) to ensure care and protection of children in contact with Railways was revised by the Ministry of Railways (MOR) in discussion with the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD). A MOU was signed between the Ministry of Railways and WCD in the context of the same.

The MWCD entrusted CHILDLINE India Foundation (CIF) the responsibility of setting up the Child Help Desk (CHD) to provide emergency services to children in contact with Railways round the clock. Hamara Foundation is responsible for managing Child Help Desk at Mumbai Central railway Station (Mainline) from 1st August, 2015.

Operational Strategy:

  • To identify and reach out to children arriving at Railways and unattended by guardians/ adults providing them assistance.
  • To make the stakeholders aware of the SoP and sensitize them to child protection issues.
  • To facilitate coordination and convergence among the multiple players to ensure long term rehabilitation of children.
  • To mobilize volunteers and other resources for effective implementation of program.
